Master Plan
Plans to transform St Elizabeths East into a place where collaboration and investment meet are embodied in the 2012 Master Plan.
In May, the DC Office of Planning, in partnership with the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, unveiled a vision for vibrant, mixed-use development featuring community-serving amenities that will function as a marketplace of ideas and commercialization; connect business, academe, entrepreneurial, and government ventures; serve as a catalyst for economic development and growth; and support security advances including critical infrastructure, energy, and sustainable technologies and practices.
The St Elizabeths East Master Plan and Design Guidelines is the result of a decade of assessment, outreach, analysis, and planning to address an historic campus that is one of the District’s largest underdeveloped sites and the future setting for wise land use, brand new infrastructure, sustainable development, historic revitalization, and open space.
The plan for a birthplace of new and profitable commerce is not only the result of a collaboration between the DC Office of Planning, the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, and District Department of Transportation. It is also the product of multiple contributions from community advisors whose invaluable guidance helped to crystallize this vision.
